Swimming ability
If your child has completed their A, B, and C diplomas, you can register them for the swimming proficiency diplomas.
These diplomas include many new strokes, such as the butterfly and the combined backstroke. Children are prepared for water polo and competitive swimming, and they also learn breathing techniques, turns, and the dive starter for all strokes. They also learn several survival techniques. The swimming proficiency diplomas consist of three levels: swimming proficiency 1, 2, and 3.
Survival swimming lesson
To participate in this program, children must have an A, B, or C diploma. Survival swimming is no longer about swimming laps, but purely about learning various survival techniques. Children must wear rain gear and shoes, and with this gear, they must be able to stay afloat, among other things. Think of using pants as flotation devices, or rain pants that can be used to float. There is also a large inflatable boat for the children to use.
There are three official survival certificates to earn. The techniques children learn are developed from the perspective of water rescue. Others also need to be rescued. This is practiced using equipment such as a throw bag, a lifejacket, and a diving dummy. Children also learn to improvise during the lessons, for example, by pulling someone out of the water using rain pants.
Obtaining the survival certificate(s) is a valuable addition to your child’s swimming safety. It not only makes them stronger but also helps them learn how to survive in the water.

Mermaid swimming lesson
During mermaid swimming lessons, children learn to swim with a mermaid tail (monofin). Their feet are secured in one fin. Children are only allowed to participate if they have a level AB diploma, and preferably a level C. This is a requirement because children must be able to manage themselves in the water without their feet being involved. Once they have mastered swimming with a monofin, they will also start swimming with full tails, giving them the look of a real mermaid.
This program offers three certificates: bronze, silver, and gold. It takes an average of 15 lessons to earn all three certificates.
